There were pigeons in an outside aviary and a cockatiel and a budgerigar were also found in cages. My client has financial difficulties and has been unable to afford to take the animals to the vets.

Any idea how I can build a homemade guinea pig cage?

Try making a C&C (Cube and Chloroplast) cage. They are homemade cages that are designed specifically for guinea pigs (or rabbits, rats, or ferrets with a few modifications) and are spacious, easy to make, customizable, and very easy to clean. You can find the cubes (they are actually shelving units) at any hardware store such as Home Depot or Lowe’s, or even places like Target and Wal-Mart. Chloroplast is the material that they use to make signs. It’s water-proof and durable, and will take your pigs AT LEAST 3 years to chew through it entirely (and even then you can replace it). You can find it at any place that makes signs, such as FastSigns. The prices for the shelving units vary from where you get them and how many packs you get, but generally a pack of 8 costs $15. A sheet of chloroplast costs about $20. These cages are GREAT, I loved them and so did my guinea pigs. I really would not buy/choose ANY other cage…they are so nice to have and really convenient. You can check out instructions on how to make them, and also specific stores where you can buy the materials in your area, different designs, and recommendations on what size cage you should make.
