I recently made the awful mistake of getting my chins some food that was full of treats. Although they ate a reasonable amount of the pellets, they were certainly gettig too mant treats into them. They weren’t on it for too long, but I think that they got used to it pretty quickly. Now that I got them a new pellet, with no treats, they are not really eating it. I don’t know if it’s because they want the treats, or if the pellet is bad. I am wondering if anybody knows this brand or can give me some general advice. Thanks
OK, I could only find the link for the hedgehog one, but it looks exactly the same, except there’s a chinchilla on the front. It’s called Ultra-Blend Select Complete Nutrition, Chinchilla Diet:
ANY food with treats in it should be thrown away, as should most pet store feeds. They are not a good choice when feeding your chinchillas. There are only two feeds that I know of that Petco or Petsmart carry that are considered healthy for chinchillas and that would be Mazuri or Oxbow. Of the two, I would choose Oxbow.
