How often should I feed my fish - Reef Sanctuary
I set up an automatic feeder on my tank and have been feeding my fish 3 times a day for months now with no ill effects on the water quality, but when I spoke to the owner of the LFS here in town the other day, he said I should only feed 3 times a week. I understood that the fish seek food all the time and 3 times a day would best mimic their natural environment. I understand the tangs will graze on algae in the tank but the clowns, Gobi's and others aren't herbivores and need more. Anyway, How often should I feed? If you're not having water quality issues, keep feeding 3 times a day. Like you stated, fish eat constantly in the wild and a constant supply of food is healthier for them. I feed at least once, sometimes twice, a day. Also you can only use dry food with automatic feeders, right? You should probably supplement their diet with frozen foods every day or every other day.
